If you had told me years ago that I would one day write a book about my experiences in family court, I probably wouldn’t have believed you.
For a long time, I was simply a mother trying to protect her children, navigate a system I struggled to understand, and find the strength to keep going when it felt like everything was working against me.
There were moments of heartbreak, frustration, exhaustion, and uncertainty. There were times when I questioned whether my voice would ever truly be heard. But through it all, one thing never changed: my love for my children.
Writing The Story of Surviving and Standing Tall in Family Court wasn’t just about telling my story. It was about finding the courage to share experiences that are often difficult to put into words. It was about acknowledging the pain while recognizing the strength it takes to keep moving forward.
Over the years, my experiences have shaped more than my writing. They have shaped my purpose.
Through Adcock Coaching and The Shoes Left Behind, I’ve had the opportunity to turn some of life’s most difficult lessons into meaningful conversations, advocacy, and support for others facing their own challenges.
I don’t believe every family court story looks the same. I don’t believe every parent has the same experience. But I do believe every child deserves to feel safe, every family deserves to be heard, and access to justice should never depend solely on someone’s financial circumstances.
I also believe that sharing our stories can create change.
My hope is that when someone reads my book, they find more than the details of one mother’s journey. I hope they find understanding, encouragement, and perhaps a little of the strength they need to continue their own.
I am still writing my story. I am still learning, growing, and advocating for the things I believe matter.
And if my journey helps even one person feel less alone, then sharing it has been worthwhile.
Thank you for being here, for taking the time to learn about my journey, and for allowing me to share a piece of my life with you.
With gratitude,
Tammy Adcock
